Taiye Idahor

Taiye Idahor lives and works in Lagos, Nigeria. She studied Fine Art at the Yaba College of Technology in Lagos and graduated in 2007 with a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Sculpture.

Taiye has worked consistently and significantly within the concepts of women’s identity; exploring women’s stories while using “hair” as a visual language in her work.

Idahor uses collage, drawing, sculpture and mixed media
to contemplate her ideas of memory, culture, tradition and modernity in relation to women’s interactions and navigation of the modern world.

Taiye Idahor has exhibited both locally and abroad, and her work forms part of the permanent collections of Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art South Africa, The National Gallery of Canada Ottawa, Princeton University Art Museum, New Jersey, and the Brooklyn Museum in New York amongst others.
