Simon Ojeaga (b.1996) is a visual artist whose work delves into the complexities of human existence using the African ‘Fractal’ technique traced back to the ancient Benin City.
His Technique coined “Fractellations” is characterised by intricate and complex drawing patterns through which Ojeaga explores layers of history, identity and lineage developed in African communities.
Simon Ojeaga’s works transcend conventional boundaries, embracing and projecting the intricacies of being human, opening up dialogues on the nuances of social physiognomy, duality and community. The “fractellations” characterises a painstaking process of combing through one's identity, paying careful attention to tonal gradation, variety, and captivating compositions. Through thoughtful exploration of form and harmony, his work is a symphony of self-discovery, echoing the intricacies of human existence.
He graduated with distinctions from Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, Nigeria, After which he participated in Omooba Yemisi Shyllon Art Foundation's prestigious five-week residency in 2020. His exhibitions include: “Moments in Monochrome” at Alliance Francaise, Lagos (2023), "Cadenza" at Affinity Gallery (2023), "Lines and Wonders" at AMG Projects (2022), "Otherworldly" at O’DA Art (2022), and "I Like You, You Are Different" at AMG Projects (2022).
