Blossom Oyeyipo (b. 1998) is a visual artist living and working in Lagos, Nigeria. Exploring themes of womanhood, self, and the structures of belief, her paintings offer a celebration of women in the midst of cultural and social oppression. Her compositions, often rendered in blue hues, depict portraits and figures of women in private moments of thought in an attempt to highlight feminine strength, beauty and oneness. Using acrylics, pastels, and charcoals interchangeably, these playful yet abstract paintings are the varying nature of a body/self experiencing a range of emotions in a particular moment.
